PEOPLE
Tashania Akemah, M.Arch
Principal Designer, Assoc. AIA
Tashania Akemah is a designer and researcher working at the intersection of architecture, art, and material culture. With recent experiences as exhibition designer at institutions such as the Guggenheim Museum and the Carnegie Museum of Art, her work explores how spatial and visual practices shape cultural narratives. Trained as an architect, she holds a Master of Architecture from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) and a B.F.A. in Architecture and Architectural History from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Her projects span exhibition design, architectural design, critical writing, and material research, often engaging themes of colonial history, environmental transformation, and representation. She has worked with firms and organizations such as Junya Ishigami + Associates, Terreform ONE, and Columbia GSAPP’s Natural Materials Lab. Tasha’s ongoing research examines architecture’s entanglement with post-natural materials and speculative ecologies.
